CEO followers: does this sound familiar?
"Argh, here we go again
Time to clear the diary
I was really looking forward to walking the floor, too
But I don't really have a choice now
I'd also better let the CFO know
I know we're already tight against our budget but we're going to need to find the money for this
And if I know one thing about legal stuff, it's that it's expensive
I can't believe we're doing this dance again
I can't believe we've another legal issue
I was sure that contract was rock solid
Why does this always seem to happen?
And at the worst possible time too?"
If that's sounds familiar, you are stuck in what I call The Reactive Legal Trap.

You're far from alone in there, mind
Pretty much every business inadvertently ends up reacting to legal stuff
Fighting defensively off the back foot
Spinning their wheels
Wasting valuable time & energy
And clocking up fees left, right and centre
(In fact, so many businesses end up in the Reactive Legal Trap, its almost as if lawyers designed the system that way)
It doesn't have to be that way, though
Its perfectly possible to avoid The Reactive Legal Trap with just one change of approach:
'Proactively prepare for legal stuff in advance'
Because legal issues aren't invisible, unpredictable surprises
They're logical
And they're visible
As long as you know where to look for them
That's what your lawyer should be for
Proactively finding it and evading legal stuff in advance
Not reacting to it & fighting it after it's happened
If your lawyer isn't doing that for, it's time to look for a different one
So you can keep your business out of The Reactive Legal Trap
And instead keep it powering on to land it's long-term plan
