How it works

Horizon follows a structured process, built around your specific plan and your specific business.

It starts where everything should start: with a deep dive into what your business is really trying to achieve. Its purpose, its plan, its ambition, its culture. Because legal and compliance thinking that isn't anchored to the plan isn't strategic thinking: it's just legal admin with better intentions.

 

From there, we bring your Exec and Board together for a structured horizon scanning session using our Radar methodology. This isn't a traditional risk review. No spreadsheets, no likelihood scores, no risk registers. Instead, this involves a carefully crafted set of questions that make your leadership team look at the business from completely different angles, and surface the threats that conventional risk processes miss. The output is four threat heatmaps covering reputational, strategic, operational and financial threats, along with a set of key questions to inform everything that follows.

That intelligence feeds directly into the most important step: a rigorous, independent diagnosis of exactly what your business needs from a legal and compliance perspective to hit the plan. Not a list of everything that could theoretically go wrong. A clear-eyed assessment of what actually matters, what the consequences are of not addressing it, and what the realistic options are given the constraints of time and money.

That diagnosis becomes a formal legal priority list that's agreed with you and your leadership team. It sets out what gets done, in what order, with what resources. And, just as importantly, what doesn't get done, and what that means for the business. No ambiguity. No hiding behind legal complexity.
